JerryXmasHere’s some piping-hot, down-home holiday cheer from the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band. This crisp, sparkling performance of “Christmas Time’s A-Comin” from December 6, 1987, at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles will bring a smile to your face and get you in the right frame of mind for the impending holiday festivities.

“Christmas Time’s A-Comin” is a bluegrass seasonal standard written by Benjamin “Tex” Logan and originally recorded by Bill Monroe in 1951. Country singer Sammy Kershaw made the song popular with his 1995 cover that reached #50 on the Billboard charts.

JGAB’s “one-of-a-kind” performance – featuring Sandy Rothman on mandolin and Kenny Kosek on fiddle – is brought to you by the Garcia Family Vaults.

Here’s the lineup:

Jerry Garcia (lead guitar and lead vocals)
David Nelson (rhythm guitar and baritone vocals)
Sandy Rothman (mandolin and tenor vocals)
Kenny Kosek (fiddle)
John Kahn (string bass)
David Kemper (drums)

Have a Jerry Christmas, folks!

Can’t you hear them bells ringin’, ringin’
Joy, don’tcha hear them singin’
When it’s snowin’, I’ll be goin’
Back to my country home
