AllmansTest™ Vol. 10 – Whipping Post

by Peter Wendel
We value your input so please make comments at the end of this post.

The 10th volume of the AllmansTest™ is all about the classic track, “Whipping Post” – one of the band’s most magnificent achievements. It floats in the same rarefied air as other epic works from the Allmans, like “Dreams” and “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.”

A sweeping, hard-luck blues anthem – nearly biblical in scope – “Whipping Post” is marked by smoldering vocals from Gregg Allman, and expansive explorative jams from the band’s dueling lead guitars.

WARNING: This one registers a solid 9 on the difficulty meter.

WARNING: This one registers high on the difficulty meter (though hardcore members of the Brotherhood shouldn’t have too much of a problem getting a passing grade). Good luck!
